Statement of Purpose

Our Responsibility To You

1. The provision of excellent patient care delivered in a clean, suitably equipped and safe environment.

2. Care will be provided by suitably trained members of staff who will have the right skills, training and experience to carry out their duties. We will work alongside other non practice primary care staff to ensure the ongoing appropriate care of our patients.

3. Patients will be involved in their own care and be given the appropriate choices in who, where and when their care is provided.

4. The practice will provide suitable clinics and care to manage long term conditions putting the patient as our primary focus.

5. All patients and users of the practice will be treated with dignity and respect.

6. Patients and staff will be protected from hazards and abuse.

7. The practice will work in collaboration with other NHS Healthcare providers to ensure that appropriate and cost efficient pathways are devised resulting in patients having easier access to services closer to home.

8. The practice will respond positively to feedback from patients and continuously seek ways in which services can be improved.

9. The Practice is part of Alliance Primary Care Network and is working with other smaller practices to help improve the quality and breadth of services available to patients

Your Responsibility To Us:

1. Help us to help you.

2. Please let us know if you change your name, address or telephone number.

3. Please do everything you can to keep appointments. Tell us as soon as possible if you cannot.
Otherwise, other patients may have to wait longer. A summary of our policy regarding late arrivals can be seen below.*

4. Please ask for home visits by the doctor only when the person is too ill to visit the surgery.

5. Please keep your phone call brief and avoid calling during the peak morning time for non-urgent matters.

6. Test results take time to reach us, so please do not ring before you have been asked to do so.
Enquiries about tests ordered by the hospital should be directed to the hospital, not the practice.

7. We ask that you treat the doctors and practice staff with courtesy and respect.

8. Please read our practice booklet. Along with this website it will help you to get the best out of the services we offer.

9. It is important that you understand the information given to you. Please ask us questions if you are unsure of anything.

10. Remember, you are responsible for your own health and the health of your children. We will give you our professional help and advice. Please act upon it.

* Late Arrivals for appointments:
If a patient is late for a routine appointment, it is practice policy to ask the patient to make another appointment; however, the doctor or nurse may still see you if time allows. Our surgery is a busy one, and good time keeping is essential if we are to provide patients with the service they expect. We do ask for your patience if the health care professional you have an appointment with is running late. We endeavour to run to time but the nature of our work does not always allow this to be possible.

GP Earnings

All GP Practices are required to declare mean earnings (i.e. average pay) for GPs working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice.

The average pay for GPs working in the practice of Verulam Medical Group in the last financial year was £78,074 before tax and National Insurance.

This is for 3 full time GPs who worked in the practice for more than six months.
